What Could You Achieve!?

NDIS Participants

At MOTOWN Music School, we’re all about building confidence, resilience and joy through music — in a calm, inclusive environment where every student is supported to shine.

Think of us as support workers who spend some time talking about and demonstrating music.

We have had successful interaction with NDIS Participants, emphasising quality of life and doing what’s fun. We offer a music performance based program. All students are encouraged to interact and perform at their best… and it works quite well!

We’ve had great success working with NDIS Participants, focusing on quality of life, fun, and personal growth. Our programs are performance-based, encouraging students to interact, express themselves, and achieve new goals. And yes—it works!

What We Offer

  • What we do offer is:

One to One Sessions with one student and one teacher.
    Music lessons and performance skills
Social interaction outside a participant’s usual circle
    Personal development through creative expression
A sense of purpose, routine, and achievement
All in a safe, structured and encouraging setting

  • We are not Music Therapists.
We don’t offer Music Therapy and we’re not registered Allied Health or OT providers.

This is best described as Individual Skills Development, which is a recognised NDIS support under Core or Capacity Building – Increased Social and Community Participation.

This is about learning, participating, and connecting — not therapy.

A Note on Recent NDIA Music Therapy Changes

The NDIA has recently updated its position on funding Music Therapy.
Here’s what you need to know:

  • Music Therapy must now be delivered by a registered therapist and explicitly listed as reasonable and necessary in the participant’s plan.

  • If it’s not, it won’t be funded as “Therapy” and must be claimed under Community Participation or similar categories.

  • Our program does not fall under “Therapy”—so these changes don’t affect our delivery.

Stuart Williams

This is Stuart Williams - The Musical Poet - and an NDIS student of mine. For us, it is important to allow NDIS Participants to have a voice.

Stuart has been a student of mine for a number of years now. His amazing results are self evident in the work he has produced. He has come a long way from being a shy introvert, dealing with mental health issues, to composing, producing, recording and releasing his own music.

Stuart now has now published his recordings on Spotify and Soundcloud. Just click on the links (in bold).

As at 16th October, 2023, here is a screenshot of Stuart’s Spotify account dashboard. It's quite amazing to see. Well done Stuart!

Jordan L.

This is Jordan, an NDIS student of mine. It never ceases to amaze me how he manages to remember so many songs and of such a wide range of styles. His favourite group is The Wiggles.

Jordan came to me distressed and unhappy. Generally this is him now… pretty relaxed. Personally, I can say it’s always fun working with him.

He started here on the guitar and has moved on to the drums and now, his favourite, the bass. He is really having fun; you can see it.

Meet James, one of our talented NDIS students! His dedication and passion towards computer music creation is nothing short of awe-inspiring. From mastering intricate software to pouring hours into perfecting each note, James's journey has led him to produce some truly mesmerizing pieces. Keep shining, James!
